The Farm
The centre of the farm is the historical estate of Collelungo, also the property of the Faina family. The farm spreads out over 400 hectares around the estate, on an area which is predominantly hilly, over half of which is woodland, whilst the remainder, given over to agriculture, is divided among vines, walnut groves and arable land.
Since 1980 the cultivation of olives has played an increasingly important role in the company’s business, partly due to the importance of the olive in the historical, cultural and rural context of Umbrian agriculture.
Innovation has meant both the planting of new olive groves, and the regeneration of pre-existing ones, for a total 50 hectares: to this end the company has made full use of the entire allocation offered by the ISAFOM of the CNR of Perugia, both for the plant nursery sector, and for the open cultivation sector.
On the occasion of the planting of new olive groves, the company also started a nursery for the production of olive trees. Initially its intended purpose was to produce only the approx. 30.000 plants necessary for the olive groves of the company itself: however in only a few years it established itself as an outright commercial concern, encouraged on the one hand by the excellent quality of the plants produced and on the other by an increase in demand.
