The Olive Plant Nursery
INITIAL OBJECTIVE :
The in-house cultivation of olive plants in order to renew the olive groves of the farm on a highly innovative basis.
PRODUCTIVE EVOLUTION:
From an initial 5.000 plants we reached a production level of 25.000 plants per year in 1984, and continuously increased output to a high point of 150.000 plants in 1998, with the potential to reach over 200.00 plants. This experience has led to trade throughout the entire country and abroad (Chile, Argentina, the USA, South Africa, France and others)
SUCCESSIVE DEVELOPMENT:
A substantial increase in the production of olive plants for farms of proven quality (especially in terms of their use of varieties and sanitary standards) at lower costs than those of the competition. The nursery system adopted, perfected by the Isafom-CNR of Perugia, includes the direct rooting of the olive varieties using semi-hard cuttings in warmed boxes, with subsequent cultivation in free-standing vases of the self-rooted root cuttings.
